Clay Miller is the environmental programs manager for Iowa State University. In this role, he assists faculty, students, and staff with the responsible use of Iowa’s air, water, and soil, and helps the university comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations that protect these limited resources. He supports university efforts to implement federal, state, and local regulations to insure clean air, water, and soil for the university community; leads efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle hazardous materials; manages hazardous material collection, redistribution, and disposal; tracks and documents potential sources of air pollution on campus; monitors pathological waste destruction; and protects above-ground and underground storage tanks. He leads a team of experienced environmental specialists to promote sound environmental management practices and stewardship of university resources. He works to anticipate environmental emergencies on campus, respond to hazardous chemical releases, and mitigate chemical hazards. He develops educational materials and conducts environmental health and safety training for students, faculty, and staff.
